I worked on the house yesterday for 9 hours, mainly cleaning. Sadly there was a lot of that to do. But things are looking good. We have one room where we have to remove the wallpaper and it is coming off so easily.
I'll try to post some pictures of the house in the next couple of days.
Just for fun go to this link http://producten. and make sure you're volume is turned up!

What does this 'Raven on Boat' by Mark Orr symbolize to me. That we're getting the keys to our first house today! I think I might need to run around the room like a maniac a couple of times. I have a ton of energy right now! As soon as I can I'll post some good photos of the house on the blog!

Just two days to go and we'll own a house!

I've been reading up on painting and trying to pick colors for our house. We love that the family room is a cheery yellow and the kitchen is a deeper blue green color. So those colors are staying.

This book, 'Color and Light' was actually a let down. It really didn't talk much about how to pick paint colors and talked about the history of the place in the photograph. I didn't get much out of this book.
I also read 'Painting your house inside and out'. This book was fantastic, it talked about different types of paints, painting techniques, and all about colors. Then there is a section on painting furniture and on painting the outside of your house. This book has great pictures and I'd highly recommend it!

Now for our colors! Yes they're bright. We picked colors out of the Glidden Paint section at Home Depot. The colors above are similar to the colors we've picked, I couldn't actually take the colors off of the Glidden Paint page.
Top in order we have Cool Cobalt, sunbaked Orange, Lucky Shamrock
Bottom in order we have Very Berry, Rich Navy, Blooming Fuchsia
We bought small bottles of test paint so we can try a small area of the wall and see what we think. I know the colors are bold so I'm excited but a little anxious.
I choose Blooming Fuchsia for my studio, I can't wait to see the different colors in different lights during the day.
What do you think?

Goodluck those going to BMAC!

I just wanted to Good Luck to everyone attending the Buyers Market of American Craft Show! The show is August 1st through the 3rd at the Philadelphia Convention Center. This will be the first show in a couple of years that I won't be at. For those of you running the show good luck, keep those smiles on. And for those of you selling your fabulous creations come optimistic, take time to relax a little, and make sure to smile. Keep in mind optimism is contagious!

Mary Poppins the musical

Last night Joe and I went to see Mary Poppins the Musical at Playhouse Square in Ohio. It was fantastic. We'll be moving out of the city soon so I wanted to go see a play while we could still easily walk to Playhouse Square. The Sets were just beautiful, and the story was changed so there were some nice surprises.

Drunkards Path

Yesterday my Mother-in-law and I went to two quilt exhibits in Athens Ohio. The first one was the Sew n Sew Quilt Guild Biennial Quilt Exhibit. That is where I found my favorite pattern, called the Drunkards Path. Yesterday was the last day of this exhibit.
Then we went to Quilt National at the Dairy Barn. It was an exhibit of contemporary quilts that we loved! I highly recommend this exhibit. We were very inspired by the quilts! The Dairy Barn has artwork displayed year round!

Charley Harper

While surfing the Internet last night I came across the work of Charley Harper and I was blown over. His style of drawing and depicting wildlife is very unique.

This last one, 'Backhoesaurus' is my favorite. Go explore his website, you're sure to be inspired.

New Sarah Graham Collection

This is the new Sarah Graham collection for men called Mr. Graham. I just saw it posted on her blog and I love the new designs. Although I'm female I would wear this jewelry, I hope to see it in person soon. The black patina adds mystery and depth.

Good book!

Today I read 'The Jeweler's Bench Book' by Charles Lewton-Brain. It's a great book if you're building a bench or modifying the one you already have. There are lots of pictures of different jewelers' benches to give you ideas on how you could set up your tools. Several times they touch on making sure your bench is the correct height so as to keep your spine straight and not strain your neck. I'm glad they mentioned that! It's very important. Overall it's a quick read and a good book. It would be useful for someone to build a bench or someone to upgrade the bench they already have.
The good news is that my Grandfather is going to help me build a bench. Well actually really I'll be helping him build it. I'm sure with his great skills he'll do the majority of the work.
I'll keep you updated on that! (He he! Once I have a bench I'll have so much more to post about!)

Fun purchase!

The other day we were at Walmart buying socks, and I found this adorable little locket with a real four leaf clover set on the front in epoxy. I had to buy it, if you've been reading my blog you know of my love for four leaf clovers. See this post. Just wanted to share it with you!

A storm's rolling in...

From my desk here on the 18th floor I can see stormy clouds rolling in off of Lake Erie. It reminded of a piece of jewelry by Janice Ho entitled 'Three Wishes/High Seas Necklace'. The pendant is truly animated.

What's your favorite?

I was so excited to see that the American Jewelry Design Council had just put up images of the 2009 Design Challenge 'Explosion'. I would love to include an image in this link but sadly I can't.
My favorite piece is by Jose Hess, called 'The Bomb'. It made me laugh when I saw it. Let me know which one you like.

Something cool in the hot days of summer...

I found the work of Marzia Rossi and it reminds me of when a creek freezes over, you see all of the air bubbles flow under the ice. It's very zen.

Check out the baby!

I got to meet my baby bird for the first time today. We don't know yet if it's a boy or girl. So for now I'm calling it a he. I got to hold him for over an hour and he fell asleep in my hand. So cute and adorable. I can't wait to take him home!

Sharing more of Las Vegas

Don't you love this floating crystal chandelier. That was an unbelievable amount of working spacing each crystal perfectly! It sparkles and I love it!

Remembering Las Vegas

This year I didn't get to go to JCK Las Vegas since I'm not longer working for BMAC. On the way to one of the shows last year I walked through one of the luxurious hotels that had this great lantern display I wanted to share with you all. They were spectacular.
Today I'm gathering the jewelry images I actually want on my website, so I've been going through old photos and memories.
I've really spent a month not doing much, trying to adjust to Cleveland. I've decided I'd do better if I keep myself busy. Hopefully this will cause me to have more to post!

American Jewelry Design Council

I always like to keep my eye on what the AJDC is up to. Every year the members have a jewelry challenge, they are presented with one word, such as, 'tension' 'spiral' or 'flight'. They have to use this one word as inspiration to design a piece of jewelry. Take a look at their site, scroll down and hit 'click to enter'. I love seeing all the different interpretations!
