What does this 'Raven on Boat' by Mark Orr symbolize to me. That we're getting the keys to our first house today! I think I might need to run around the room like a maniac a couple of times. I have a ton of energy right now! As soon as I can I'll post some good photos of the house on the blog!
This book, 'Color and Light' was actually a let down. It really didn't talk much about how to pick paint colors and talked about the history of the place in the photograph. I didn't get much out of this book.
I also read 'Painting your house inside and out'. This book was fantastic, it talked about different types of paints, painting techniques, and all about colors. Then there is a section on painting furniture and on painting the outside of your house. This book has great pictures and I'd highly recommend it!
Now for our colors! Yes they're bright. We picked colors out of the Glidden Paint section at Home Depot. The colors above are similar to the colors we've picked, I couldn't actually take the colors off of the Glidden Paint page.
Last night Joe and I went to see Mary Poppins the Musical at Playhouse Square in Ohio. It was fantastic. We'll be moving out of the city soon so I wanted to go see a play while we could still easily walk to Playhouse Square. The Sets were just beautiful, and the story was changed so there were some nice surprises.
Yesterday my Mother-in-law and I went to two quilt exhibits in Athens Ohio. The first one was the Sew n Sew Quilt Guild Biennial Quilt Exhibit. That is where I found my favorite pattern, called the Drunkards Path. Yesterday was the last day of this exhibit.
I just love this necklace by Australian artist Kathryn Wardill. All the glass pieces move, it would be fun to play with!
This is the new Sarah Graham collection for men called Mr. Graham. I just saw it posted on her blog and I love the new designs. Although I'm female I would wear this jewelry, I hope to see it in person soon. The black patina adds mystery and depth.
Today I read 'The Jeweler's Bench Book' by Charles Lewton-Brain. It's a great book if you're building a bench or modifying the one you already have. There are lots of pictures of different jewelers' benches to give you ideas on how you could set up your tools. Several times they touch on making sure your bench is the correct height so as to keep your spine straight and not strain your neck. I'm glad they mentioned that! It's very important. Overall it's a quick read and a good book. It would be useful for someone to build a bench or someone to upgrade the bench they already have.
From my desk here on the 18th floor I can see stormy clouds rolling in off of Lake Erie. It reminded of a piece of jewelry by Janice Ho entitled 'Three Wishes/High Seas Necklace'. The pendant is truly animated.
I found the work of Marzia Rossi and it reminds me of when a creek freezes over, you see all of the air bubbles flow under the ice. It's very zen.

I got to meet my baby bird for the first time today. We don't know yet if it's a boy or girl. So for now I'm calling it a he. I got to hold him for over an hour and he fell asleep in my hand. So cute and adorable. I can't wait to take him home!
