Glass - Fluid & Beautiful

I was browsing ArtFul Home and came across this elegant glass perfume bottle. I really liked the etched ferns. The perfume bottle below is by the same artist, Mary Angus.

Van Cleef & Arpels

I love the sketches and jewelry of Van Cleef & Arpels. I feel like there is a good story behind this necklace.

I would love to wear this ring, yummy!

Don't you wish the ocean could be made of beautiful gemstones like the water in this bird bath. I love birds and pave!

Well, I guess we'll be getting cable because my friend Valerie Mayen is on Project Runway Season 8. Wahooooooo! I'm soooooo excited for her! Go check out her video and if you like what you see become her Facebook Fan.

You can check out Ms. Mayen's blog or her website. The image above is part of her collection.
Actually I've heard you can watch the episodes on the Project Runway site the day after they air, so I'll be watching Project Runway online!

Reminiscent of Art Nouveau

Megan Thorne's jewelry is elegant and well executed.
She's also a very smiley person!
Which makes me like her so much more!

Loving Summer

I was reading Metalsmith and came across the work of Merry Renk. I love this tree bracelet. It's really nice how the trees in the background are blurry off in the distance.

Out and About!

This past weekend we saw this amazing cloud, I thought we were going to get a big storm but it never came.

Joe and I went hiking at Blue Hen Falls and I loved the tree roots.

Here is Blue Hen Falls, there is a nice bench over looking the falls, it would be a great place to sit and sketch.

Next we went hiking on the Lake Trail around Kendall Lake. We had to go through a tunnel and it echoed really well!

The geese were lined up in a row.

Can you find the Caterpillar?

Even harder, can you find the little frog? He was actually in my yard.

AscenDance

Did you see AscenDance preform last night on America's Got Talent. If you missed it, now you can watch!

They get my vote for one of the best performance's that could really turn into a Vegas Show. Sadly last night many of the preforms didn't bring a dynamite performance. I think that they all got muddled down by the fact that the show, 'America's Got Talent', is now giving them money for costumes, back up dancers, props and so on. Instead of keeping the focus on the raw talent they muddled it up with all kinds of crap. Keep it simple and it will shine! I wish you all luck!

Week of Glass!

Blanche Tilden works in glass and metal, her work can be found here.

This week we've been working on the glass part of Matt Bezak's Work, it's cool and hot, hot as the melting temp of glass! It's been fun to help with the process, I'll be excited to see our whole month of jewelry finished in one place. Matt's done more of the work than me since it is only beginning of my third week but I feel like I'm picking it up quickly and I'll continue to improve.

Cool Stuff on Crafhaus

Have you seen the work of Sim Luttin? These pieces are from his series 'Melancholy: Bidding Adieu'.
I found his work on the website Crafthaus. This is a site where craft artists display their work, and connect with each other across all fields of interest.

I highly suggest you check out Crafthaus and make friends and be inspired!

I love Jennifer Trask

For years I've been mesmerized by the jewelry of Jennifer Trask.

She uses bones in her jewelry and sculpture. Do you find it creepy or beautiful?

I forgot to mention, We went ParaSailing while at the Beach!

Joe's brother and sister went parasailing a couple of days before us and said they had a great time so we gave it a try.

This is me getting ready to take off of the boat.

A little ways into the air, 2 thumbs up!

Higher up and loving the view.

This is me at about 800 feet. I accidentally collapsed the sail (I blame lack of wind) and started to slowly fall. I guess it looked bad from the water, boats were turning around under me to get out of the way. But then somehow the wind picked up and I was back up again!

This is Joe parasailing, and he's in the palm of my hand just where I want him!

A quick smooch, we both survived and loved it!

French Steakhouse at the Viking Cooking School

Joe and I took another fun cooking class with friends of ours. We started with a Frisee Salad with Crispy Bacon and Poached Eggs.

Then we had the Grilled Hanger Steak with Red Wine Demi-Glace and Matchstick Potatoes.

For dessert we had a Classical Chocolate Souffle with a Grand Marnier Creme Anglaise.
I highly recommend taking Viking Cooking classes if you love to cook. So much fun and tasty!

Congress of Jugglers 2010

So if you read my blog you know I was at the Continental Congress of Jugglers this year in College Park Maryland. My sister sent me this video of the festival. I did find myself once in the video and I'm not juggling, oh darn! My sister and my mom are on the crazy bicycle. That was fun riding around on the Bicycle Man's Bicycles!

Snowball Flowers

I took these pictures the other day in a gentle rain, I really love the snowball flowers.

Beach Animals

We visited the Aquarium while on Emerald Isle and saw these amazing flying fish sculptures.

And this sandcastle sculpture! You know I love birds, I can't believe this was made out of sand.

Me hopping a ride on a bronze turtle.

A strangely familiar looking hermit crab.

Our beach house, 'Sunny Bunz', was bird themed, I loved this metal wall sculpture. So did my parrot Bentley!

Emerald Isle

Two weeks ago we vacationed at Emerald Isle in North Caroline. Joe's whole family rented a house together. And the house was called 'Sunny Bunz'!

I loved the orange sherbert color of the house and the wrap around porches.

There was a nice wooden deck out to the beach.

A well built sandcastle I spotted on the beach,

and sand characters!

We also ate at the Sanitary Restaurant, I thought that was a funny name!
We had a great vacation, I'll share more photos later.
