Fun Earrings!

These earrings by Iker Ortiz (2011) have a playful nature to them. I'd imagine they have great movement as well. I love all of Iker's jewelry, I wanted to post 20 images but I'll just let you peruse to his Klimt02 site and his website.

Stainless steel earrings, onyx, 11 x 1.3 cm

A fine writing instrument...

Princesse Grace de Monaco limited edition fountain pen in pink gold, rose coloured lacquer embellished with white diamonds and a drop-cut pink sapphire by Montblanc.
I like to see precious metals and gems in something other than jewelry. Beautiful!

Tiffany Parrot Panel

These images are from the Louis C. Tiffany, The Garden Museum Collection. They are mosaic glass in a wood frame with foliate brass mount, c. 1910, unsigned, 55 3/4 by 14 1/8 inches (full mosaic below).
These were originally cabinet doors and the mosaic glass is imbued with a rainbow surface sheen that captures precisely the birds' shimmering plumage and the tropical lushness of their habitat. Photo: Sotheby's New York.

On the Estate of Aaron Frank, 1979. Barry W. Toombs, 1979-84.

I was drawn in by the colors and the motion of the birds.

A pair of earrings at Jewelerswerk Galerie...

About 4 or 5 years ago I was at Jewelerswerk Galerie in D.C. and saw a pair of sterling silver mobile earrings that were perfectly balanced. They have stuck in my mind for this long, in other words I should have bought them. While thinking about these earrings I came across the work of Alexander Calder, yes he did make earrings. (above image)

I found these with no website link. I liked how they were different from one another. I'm big on symmetry but it may be good to push myself to make earring pairs that don't match.

This is the work of Soo-Hwa Yuan, the Litani Mobile. I want earrings like this. Not sure how to go about that but it would be beautiful!

Morimoto in Philly

While in Philly we ate at Morimoto's Restaurant. He's one of the Iron Chef's. The entire restaurant is built to make you feel like you are underwater. And the booths/chairs change color very slowly throughout the evening. It was a great experience!

Great Inspiration Resource

Dover Publications produces books full of clip art, patterns and historical drawings to help inspire your artwork. Some of the books even come with a CD of the images so you can manipulate them on your computer as well. I just purchased Flowers: Bursting with superior botanical illustrations, this gorgeous collection features more than 200 blossoms and bouquets, hand-picked from the rarest sources.

Since I was in Thailand last year I wanted some more references for Thai inspiration.

And I bought Thai Decorative Designs.
