Homemade Marshmallows

A few weeks ago we were watching a episode of 'The Next Iron Chef' and someone made marshmallows and I thought you can make those? It just never occurred to me so I had to give it a try.

The mixture does have to be spread out on a sheet pan that has been sprinkled with powdered sugar and corn starch.

Then it must sit for 4 hours to harden.

Next you put it out on a cutting board and cut them up into little squares with a pizza cutter.

Look how cute they are!

And I put them in my hot chocolate using the Hershey's cocoa hot chocolate recipe which is delicious!

And I used my favorite Halloween Mug! Have a happy weekend everybody!

Live Video

So I pushed myself to learn how to use the video function on my camera. It's not that hard and I got a great video to share. Joe was away all week for work and our dog Cinnamon greeted him at the door. Enjoy!

Go out of your way to be kind...

The best presents are the unexpected ones. A thoughtful gesture or gift given not around the holidays or a birthday. But when you thought of that person and surprised them.
A friend gave me this lovely bottle of wine and one of the nicest cards I've ever received. The message inside was wonderful. Thank you.
I love to give unexpected gifts or spend quality time with others. These gestures mean a great deal to the recipient  So be mindful, playful and surprise and inspire those around you and maybe those you don't even know.

Today a nice gentleman helped me find dowels at Home Depot and he spoke to me in German, which was surprising and fun since I have a goal to learn German. I really haven't practiced any yet. But I really enjoyed our exchange. He taught me to say a few phrases and it was a nice moment, I didn't rush away like I tend to do. I lingered and spoke to this stranger and we shared. These are the moments, that take you by surprise and teach you to be mindful and that any ordinary moment can be truly meaningful if you let it.

Lovely Golden Scrolls

Years ago I worked in a jewelry store (back in Maryland) and they had this exact ring except the peridot was an amethyst. I loved this ring, the scroll work on the sides is lovely. Sadly I can't find a picture of the sides. The company that makes beautiful ring is Crescendo and is based in Canada.
Check out more of their jewelry on their site.
